A Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) is a file format used to store the contents of a virtual machine's hard drive. VHD files are used by Microsoft virtualization products such as Hyper-V and Virtual PC. They can be created and edited using the Disk Management utility in Windows, or with various third-party tools.
